Witnessing the Bomb in New Mexico

Pictured here is Larry Sheffield, grandson of John R. Emde.  Mr. John Emde was from Ruidoso, New Mexico

Mr. Emde worked on the Manhattan Project at the Trinity Test Site, Oak Ridge, TN; Hanford, WA.; & Los Alamos, New Mexico all in the span of 24 months in 1944-1945. It was never talked about with the family. Later, Larry learned that his grandfather had a security clearance.

Every artifact in this exhibit was directly used at the Manhattan Project Trinity Test Site near Alamogordo, New Mexico

Larry has collected over 40 items
​and 28 different collection papers/photos.
